NEWSLETTER – FEB. 15-19
RELIGION – We will work on Lenten practices. We’ll also have a Mardi Gras celebration.
READING – Wings test is on Thursday. We’ll read Beauty and the Beast.
ENGLISH – We’ll work on compare/contrast writing and pronouns.
SPELLING – We will not have any new words this week.
MATH – We will study congruent figures, perimeter, symmetry, and area.
SCIENCE – Chapter Test is on Thursday. Ch. Rev. pgs. D86-87 is due today. Hopefully students will share their whale power point projects. Next we will study matter.
SOCIAL STUDIES – We will work on map skills and Black History Month.
· Thanks to those parents who have already volunteered to chaperone our field trip on May 7. We will need many drivers.
· Thanks to Mrs. Nienaber and all the parent helpers. The students have enjoyed 3 wonderful parties.

RELIGION – We’ll complete the chapter on liturgy and begin Lent.
READING – This week we’ll read Wings. We’ll also work on cause/effect, compare/contrast, and reference sources. Students should study vocabulary for this story. The Selection Test is on Friday.
ENGLISH – We’ll work on pronouns and compare/contrast writing.
SPELLING – The new words are: five, himself, usually, money, and seen. We’ll work on dropping e before adding ing and irregular plurals. Homework is due on Thursday.
MATH – We will work on quadrilaterals, triangles, congruent figures, and perimeter. Students need to continue studying the multiplication facts.
SCIENCE – We will study the eclipse of the moon and sun. There will be a chapter test on Friday. A study guide will be sent home.

· I have scheduled a field trip on May 7 to the Museum of Natural History at Union Terminal. We will have a simple machine learning lab, visit the museum, and see the movie Under the Sea at the Omnimax. I will need parent drivers if you are available. We will be gone from about 8:45-2:15.
· Valentine’s Day Party is on Friday. A list of students is included in this newsletter. Students can bring in their valentines any day this week.

RELIGION – We will study about a missionary. We will also work on various activities for CSW.
READING – We will not read a new story this week. We’ll work on the Unit Test. We’ll also read poetry.
ENGLISH – We’ll work on verbs and writing poetry. We’ll also illustrate the stories they are typing for publication.
SPELLING – The new words are: learn, point, city, play, and toward. We’ll work on adding s and es to words. Spelling homework is due on Thursday.
MATH – We’ll have a Chapter 6 Test on Wednesday. Students won’t have homework on Tuesday, but they may need to review a little for the test.
