NEWSLETTER – SEPT. 13-17

RELIGION – We will study the gifts of the Holy Spirit and being active members of the church.

READING – We’ll read Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday. Students should study vocabulary words for this story. We will also work on sequencing and drawing conclusions. The Selection Test is on Friday.

ENGLISH – We will work on statements and questions. We will also continue working on our character descriptions.

SPELLING – The new words are: often, together, asked, house, and don’t. We will work on /ou/ sound spelled ou and ow. We will also work on adding the endings ed, ing, er, and est to words. Homework is due on Thursday. Spelling Test is on Friday.

MATH – We will work on writing numbers in the 10,000 and 100,000 place in standard, words, and expanded form. We will also use graphs to solve problems. Students may need some practice saying these large numbers.

SOCIAL STUDIES – We will work on using a map scale to measure distance. We will also study about the Constitution since Constitution Day is Friday.

SCIENCE – We will study fossils and how we learn about the past from them. We will make fossils from playdoh. We’ll begin the Chapter Review on Thursday. This is due on Tuesday, Sept. 21. The Chapter C1 Test is on Thursday, Sept. 23. A study guide will be sent home this week.


· Highlights yes/no slips will be sent home this week. I only need your signature and we can receive free classroom items.
· I will send home an A.R. update this week. It will show the tests your child has taken so far this quarter.
